Information on Nursery, Reception and in-year admissions.
The Winns Primary is a three form entry school with a nursery. Admissions in to Reception – Year 6 are governed by Waltham Forest admission procedures.
We welcome prospective parents/carers to visit our school. We hold school tours regularly so you can see what life at The Winns is like and our children very much enjoy meeting visitors and sharing their achievements.
From time to time, we also have vacancies in other year groups. To apply for a place for one of our Years 1 to 6 classes, parents please visit the Waltham Forest In-Year Admissions page. We encourage visits to the school for prospective families. If you would like to arrange a visit to see the school, please call the school office on 020 8527 1872. We understand the moving a child school during the school year can sometimes be difficult and at The Winns, we strive to support you and your family in the process.
Reception 2025
If your child was born between 01/09/2020 – 31/08/2021 they will start in Reception class in September 2025.
Reception 2025 tours are available to book via Eventbrite. More information can be found on our Parents page, under Tours for New Parents.

Reception 2024
If your child was born between 01/09/2019 – 31/08/2020 they would start Reception class in September 2024.
Any parents requiring a Reception place should contact the Waltham Forest Admissions Department.
Nursery children are allocated either part-time (15 hours) or full-time (30 hours) spaces. All children who are aged 3 and 4 years old receive 15 hours free child care. Children with working parents may be entitled to 30 hours of free childcare. To check if you are eligible for the 30 free hours childcare and to apply, please go to www.childcarechoices.gov.uk. Here, you will find information about the different types of services and support available to parents.
Our Nursery can also offer additional sessions for those wanting more hours and are not eligible for 30 hour funding.
If you would like to visit our Nursery we will be holding tours for prospective parents. The tours will be announced over the summer term and will give you an opportunity to visit our Early Years setting. The tours will begin at 9.30 and should be no longer than 45 minutes, please feel free to bring your child with you. To arrange a visit, please visit Eventbrite The Winns Nursery.
